Mockingbird Medal

To Kill a Mockingbird author Harper Lee was given The Presidential Medal Of Freedom by lee.jpgPresident George W Bush for her outstanding contribution to literature. The award was given to her the 5th of November 2007 during a ceremony at the White House.
Lee, 81, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 for her only novel To Kill a Mockingbird, after that she stopped giving interviews and rarely makes public appearances.
