The National Registration card of Queen Mary, issued on May 22, 1940, during World War II, is to be sold at auction.
The card is signed "Mary, Her Majesty Queen" and consists of three pages documenting her move from Badminton House, Gloustershire, to Marlborough House, London.
The identity card survived due to an Army officer having a change of heart when asked to shred these cards after the war. The officer decided to keep the card as a memento.
Now the card will be auctioned by Hanson's of Lichfield, Staffordshire, and is expected to be sold for around £500.
