JK Rowling will be providing an 800 word prequel to her Harry Potter
stories on a card as part of a charity auction taking place at
Waterstone's Book Seller in London on Tuesday 10th June.
The proceeds from this auction will go to English PEN and Dyselxia Action.
Her card, along woth cards from 12 other authors who contributed to the
charity auction, will be published in a book due on sale in August.
'We never dreamed that JK Rowling would donate something so
precious, and we're incredibly grateful' says Managing Director of
Waterstone's, Gerry Johnson.
The 800 word prequel will feature Harry Potter's father and friends, 3 years before Harry's birth.
Rowling states on her website, 'Although I did feel a bit like a
relapsing addict as I sat down to write - the words poured from my pen
with frightening ease - I am NOT working on a prequel.' Rowling even
states this at the bottom of her card (as shown below).
